Emmett's 1st Birthday Celebration!

We celebrated E's first birthday on Sunday evening, because we will be flying to SLC and driving up to ID on his birthday. It was a busy Sunday celebrating Easter, going to church, and having his little family party. You can see him down in the front corner of the picture below with his birthday hat on. He is clapping in the picture. He just started to really clap the day before! He also started doing the ASL sign for eat! Hurray for signing times!!!

E was pretty exhausted by the time we started celebrating. He had his first meltdown when he grabbed the elastic string attached to his hat and snapped it against his face!

We opened presents first. He got a Crayola "beginners" art set, (He loves it and so do I! Normally $25, I go it on clearance at Michael's for $5!:) a little nerf basketball hoop and ball, (That was the only gift he responded to right away because he recognized the ball in the package), a bag of Mega Blocks, a little wagon filled with sand toys and a pool floaty tube.

Can you see his little bowtie in the picture above? He got it in his Easter basket.

(Melt Down #2) We tried turning on the webcam so the grandparents could watch E open his presents and eat his cake. Well we should have known he would be totally distracted if we had the computer out. He kept trying to touch the keyboard and pull the camera down. We finally just had to turn it off so we could move on with the "party."

Our attempt to get a family picture. Emmett is reaching for a balloon.
(PS I just had my hair toned back to it's natural color. My hair stylist matched it PERFECTLY. She left my roots and just colored from where the artificial color was down. If you are looking for someone to do your hair let me know. Jana does an awesome job! She is located in Huntington Beach.)

The good stuff! He looks pretty serious and exhausted in these pics, but he did start to warm up after a couple of bites. He was even babbeling as he ate.

(Melt down #3) He did not want to leave his cake!

I can't believe my little boy will be 1. He has already had so many of his "firsts." He has just discovered his two top and two bottom teeth and bites everything in half that he can, even little cheerios. It is so fun to watch him. He practically runs down the halls at church now. He loves to draw on his magnadoodle. He can catch a ball when we toss one to him. He HATES Speghettios. He waves whenever we say "hi" "bye" or "night night." He throws his passy back in his crib without being told now. He usually responds when I "count to 3" in a serious mom voice. He always wants to go outside with us whenever we open the front or back door. He is super wiggly now when we change his diaper and get him dressed. He loves to look at his letters (that spell his name) on his wall. I will spell out his name for him and he will often repeat me at the end when I say "T - T." He is starting to drink whole milk, but it has to be warm.

Emmett has brought us more joy than we could have ever imagined! We love being parents and feel so blessed to be Emmett's parents.

We love you Bubba! Happy 1st Birthday!
