50 Days To Go. . .

I Love my Husband!
I am finally doing the fun husband tag that I have seen on every one's blogs.
What is his name? Paul
How long have you been together? We have been together as a couple for 3 years and 3 months. We have known each other for almost 6 years.
How long did you date? We dated for about 6 months before getting engaged. We were officially engaged for about 1 month and 3 weeks!
How old is he? He is 26, turning 27 in April.
Who eats more? Most definitely Paul, unless it is dessert!:)
Who said I love you first? I think Paul "officially" said it first. I implied it before he did, but I didn't want to be the first one to actually say it. (Silly, I know.)
Who is taller? Paul is taller than me by 2.5 inches.
Who is smarter? I think we all know that Paul takes the cake on this one. He is bursting with all sorts of knowledge! However, when it comes to fixing, building, or creating anything I tend to be a step ahead of him.
Who does the laundry? We both do, it just depends on who has the extra time, or who has the most urgent need.
Who does the dishes? We both do. We have a really great rule in our house that whoever cooks doesn't have to do the dishes. I think Paul came up with it to motivate me to cook a little more often. It worked...:)
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? If you are looking at the bed, I do.
Who pays the bills? Paul brings home most of the bacon and I send it right back out.
Who mows the lawn? We don't have a lawn, but I can usually get Paul to vacuum. I can pretty much guarantee that when we do have a lawn it will be Paul's domain. He has always had an interest in landscape design. He is very excited for the day when he can make that a hobby.
Who cooks dinner? Currently I do most of the cooking. Paul is a natural in the kitchen, but doesn't have the time to cook most nights, unless we plan to eat dinner at 8pm. He enjoys cooking a Sunday meal every so often and always makes me breakfast on Sunday mornings.
Who drives when you are together? Typically Paul, but if we are in Utah I usually end up driving because Paul hates the snow and doesn't know his way around as well. Sometimes I will choose to drive in the LA traffic because Paul's California driving can make me very nervous and car sick!
Who is more stubborn? We can both be stubborn, but I have to say that Paul is more stubborn. I think it comes with being the oldest child.
Who kissed who first? Paul kissed me first, on Valentines day, in the rain, it was so romantic!
Who asked who out first? Paul asked me out first. We have a really funny first date story. In short, he took me snow tubing and as we were going down the hill we saw a HUGE jump in front of us. He bailed and left the tube completely off balance. I hit the jump and the tube flew one way and I flew the other. I landed right on me face and skidded across the icy snow. I was all cut up and had a nice fat lip. Paul felt so bad! He took me home and put some neosporin on my face for me. The next morning I woke up to a "get well" package on my door step with a sweet note. It didn't take me long to figure out that he was a keeper!
Who proposed? Paul proposed. He woke me up early in the morning and drove me to the bottom of Ensign peak. We hiked to the top and watched the sun rise. He packed a yummy little breakfast for us too. After the sun was up he began to tell me all of the reasons that he loved me and then asked me to stand up. He got down on one knee and asked me if I would be his wife. I said, "Yes!"
Who wears the pants in the family? I think we have a very large pair of pants and we each wear a leg. Currently we have a pretty well balanced relationship where we both help out with everything. I am sure we will transition to more traditional roles once I am a stay at home Mom.

President Gordon B. Hinckley

I was shocked when I received word of President Gordon B. Hinckley's passing this evening. We will miss our beloved prophet. I am so grateful for all of the inspiring words that he shared with us and the smiles that he brought to our faces. He truly was an inspired Prophet of God. Although we mourn his passing, my heart is filled with joy when I think of him being reunited with his eternal sweetheart and of course our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude this evening as I ponder the blessing that it is to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are so blessed to have the knowledge of the plan of salvation. I know where I came from, why I am here and where I am going, that in and of its self brings me so much peace, confidence and joy in this life. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that He lives. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet called of God. I am so grateful that we have the opportunity to study his life in depth over the next two years in Relief Society. Let us not forget how blessed we are as members of the church to have this knowledge. It is the greatest gift that we could ask for. It is a gift that we must always be ready and willing to share.

A Few Things
Jan 15, 2008
Tag, I'm it!
6 things about me:
(I have decided to write things that I have discovered about myself, or have done, since getting married)
1. I LOVE Sushi! Of course I can't eat anything but a California or Eel (it really is good!) roll while I am pregnant.
2. I LOVE to organize things. Now that I have my own home I am kind of anal about where things go and how they are done. Paul is a good sport though.
3. Serving in the Nursery is the hardest calling I have ever had! Seriously, it stresses me out!
4. I currently work at a local High School as an Instructional Assistant in two Special Ed classrooms. Believe it or not, I am currently teaching Economics and I am a math tutor during lunch. I bet you never would have guessed that!:)
5. I LOVE shopping, but only when I find a great deal, otherwise I hate it!
6. Dancing with the Stars is my favorite TV show. In our old apartment we could only watch it in Spanish and I still never missed an episode!

Happy New Year!
1. Always do my best
2. Graduate from BYU in August
3. Lose weight after baby is born, Do family history, Keep a daily journal, sing in the ward choir, become a better cook, Scrapbook, write family newsletters, keep family calendar to track important events, keep home clean and in order, get a better camera and enhance my photography skills, use my sewing machine often and craft often, be a perfect wife and mother.
That's it! Only three things to work on this year.:) This really is short compared to most years and I didn't even list everything. We also have family goals that we plan to work on. As long as I take things one day at a time I think 2008 will be a very exciting and successful year.
Here are a couple of pictures from Christmas day. I need to work on taking more pictures of everyone when we are together. I guess I should add that to #3 on my goal list!
We had a great time attending various family parties and getting stuck in the snow while in UT!:) It really was the beautiful white Christmas I had been dreaming of. The big gifts we received this year were a videocamera and my sewing machine. Our parents are so great! We feel very blessed. Paul was excited about all of his gifts, but I think the BYU stocking from Grandma got the biggest reaction!

Baby Shower Fun!
It was so fun to get together with family and friends to celebrate the future arrival of our little guy. Thanks everyone for coming and for all of the wonderful gifts! (Thanks Em for taking all of the pictures!) His room is beginning to feel more and more like a nursery as the baby supplies increase. Speaking of his room. We purchased baby furniture just before the Christmas break. I think it is just perfect, and the fact that we got a really good deal on it makes it even more perfect!:)

Tis The Season!
Paul and I are updating our Christmas card list and we need your email addresses. (We send digital Christmas cards.) Please send your email address to paul.w.sheets@gmail.com so we can spread some holiday cheer with you! (If you know that we already have your email address please disregard this request:)
Thanks friends!
P.S. I had a lot of fun decorating for Christmas this year, so I thought I would share some of my little projects with you. . .
I added some decorations to this cute miniature wreath that my Mom sent us two years ago.
I tied my first "big bow" to go on the top of our tree. It took me about a million tries, but I finally ended up with a pretty good one.

This was my big project. I made two nine foot garlands. One to go above our sliding glass doors and one to line our kitchen bar. I still need to add lights to the one above the doors. Dec 2, 2007
Holiday Fun!
I had to post this fun video that Paul's brother Dan made. I think it is so cute!

It's a . . .BOY?!
We just found out tonight. I have to be honest and admit that I was kind of hoping for a girl, but we are very excited to welcome a little boy to our family. Paul had that (sorry, but I told you so. . .) look on his face when we found out. He will be such a great Dad! He feels much more prepared to have a boy since he comes from a family of four boys. I come from a family of four boys too, so I guess I shouldn't be nervous either.:)

Protein! Protein! Protein! So, I got Paul a "Daddy book" and I was so excited when I found out that he was actually reading it! Well, one of the first things that he learned was that protein contributes to the development of brain cells during the first 20 weeks. (I eat protein, but not a ton. I just don't like it that much, especially since I have been pregnant.) Of course Paul wants our child to be a genius so he decided to help out. He did the grocery shopping last week and this is SOME of what he came home with. Yum?! Well I ate it and all I can say is, only 2 more weeks to go . . .(then I'll be at 20 weeks.)

Mommy Question . . .
Now for my Question. . .
I am beginning our baby registry at Babies "R" Us and I am wondering if any of you have something that you just can't live without. There are so many things out there, I am not sure what to choose. I think I have most of the basics, but I am sure there are little things that I have never even heard of that you love. Thanks for any input you may have!!!
P.S. You do not have to be a Mom to respond to this post.:)
